The Real Story of Amazing Grace

Posted: August 16, 2007 3:16 p.m. Massachusetts

William Wilberforce was really a force to be reckoned with… when you consider where he got his strength of conviction. It took English parliament 20 years to abolish slavery through the unrelenting work of Wilberforce finally receiving a royal assent in 1807 to abolish the cruel practice.

What parallels his efforts were those of John Quincy Adams, America's 6th president. He fought a campaign for 8 years against the promoters of slavery, who would not even listen to this 70+ year old man, a former Senator, President, and finally serving as a congressman. That was what they called the gag order, which was to suppress the Truth, freedom of speech.

What is amazing is that these were just two individuals, amongst the many people who have served the greatest cause in History. To present the freedom that God has given to us. By offering his own Son, Jesus Christ to be come as our substitute, through his sacrifice for our sins.

That is the Greatest Story ever told the second greatest story is when we receive him as our life through faith
