Marylou's Coffee located in Massachusetts is a real find especially after I thought that Betty in Jackson, Wyoming was top notch. Just like a sailor with a girl in every port, however as a Veteran of the Department of the Navy (er, ahem the Marines) I meant a Coffee Shop by the Name of Betty Rock. Now it is no surprise that Boston and the surrounding places would do coffee and do it right.
Seems that our American Revolution began with a cup of hot coffee in Boston!
Now back to the original story I’ll finish the other one later. Journeying across the Cape and up to Plymouth, Mass I saw that a coffee shop was just on the outskirts of town, believe you me when I saw the layout of the places my first thought was did Mary Kay get in the business of opening true bona fide coffee shops. You would have seen my pattern of thought if you saw the parking lot were the lines where all painted in pink.

This was one of the smaller shops but besides having a drive up they had a small walk up area. I went in and probably like all tourist said the same thing about the pink decorations. The Motto is “Think Pink” at all Marylou’s. It was fun talking to the locals and chatting up the crowd. I did not let it be known that I do my own coffee reviews so it was a bit of a stealth mission. Over the next few weeks I hit up five of their places and realized that this is what Coffee is all about.
For us West Coasters Dunkin Donuts started in Massachusetts and is probably what kept Starbucks from running all over the place. Not that any of the 24 Marylou’s Coffee shops is going to put them out of business. Well not unless….
Maybe I better not say
Coffee Recon has kept a link of Marylou’s Coffee on our websites and blogs for several years. Ira
