Posted: JUNE 15, 2008 3:16 p.m. CALIFORNIA By Ira Garner © 2008 In England, William Wilberforce was really a force to be reckoned with! When of course you consider where he got his strength of conviction from, it is by providence. It however took the English parliament over 20 years to abolish slavery through the unrelenting work of Wilberforce, who finally received a royal assent in 1807 to abolish the cruel practice. What parallels his efforts were those of John Quincy Adams, America's 6th president. He fought a campaign for 8 years against the promoters of slavery, who would not even listen to this 70 + year old man, a former Senator, President, and finally serving as a congressman. That was what they called the gag order, with which they used to suppress the Truth, the freedom of speech. Even Old Man Eloquence was censored by those who felt the will of the people and God should not be proclaimed by those who are appointed to speak such. Well they say History repeats itself, and just as in the time of William Wilberforce, and John Quincy Adams their still are those who use their powerful influence to muzzle the truth. Our conviction is to Pray and Tell of the Goodness of truth, one who is higher in Authority than any principality here on Earth has commissioned us to such work. Need we ask permission to praise the ascended God? What is amazing is that these two individuals, were amongst the many people who have served the greatest cause in History. To present the freedom that God has given to us. By offering his own Son, Jesus Christ to be come as oWur substitute, through his sacrifice for our sins. That is the Greatest Story ever told the second greatest story is when we receive him as our life through faith. How sweet the sound of Amazing Grace.
